I love this website, more than alot of things i have in my life right now, but i hate people that treat it like a myspace, a facebook, like anything other than the online portfolio and showcase for artistic expression that it is. I look through the "added in the last 2 minutes" section frequently to discover new and interesting art and i notice that the submissions, almost 100 every 30 seconds, are littered and almost poisoned with photographs. I love Photography, and when done right it is one of the most beautiful art forms i can think of. Listen, a picture of yourself from an obscure over the head angle is not Photography, nor is it art. A picture of you at a My Chemical Romance Concert with the bassist is not art. A picture of you doing anything that involves looking in a mirror and giving a peace sign is not art. In fact there are a lot of pictures on this web site that are not art, and this simple journal entry on one deviant art page wont do anything to change that. But if you are aware of this as well, and a true artist, whether it be paint or pencil or photo or written word, i urge you to copy this and post it in your own journal.
